Is a child dedication like infant baptism?
Child dedication is not the same as baptism. We believe that baptism is a public statement of faith that can only be made by someone who has personally believed in Jesus Christ. Thus, it is for adults or children that understand clearly the fundamental issues of the faith. If you or your child have become followers of Jesus and would like to be baptized, please see the baptism page.
A child is a blessing and God-given trust. At Rock Chapel, child dedication is a wonderful ceremony that signifies the parent's commitment to uphold that trust. It is an event that publicizes the parent's pledge to raise their child in an environment where he/she can come to know, love, and honor Jesus with their lives. A baby dedication also reminds the church of our commitment to provide a loving, caring community that is supportive of parents.
